I manually shut it down after several minutes of it not going anywhere, put in DiskWarrior to see if it would help recover the system. The machine stuck on the white screen at bootup. Then my computer decided to reboot, showing a system screen stating that there was a problem and at any moment it was going to reboot (not exact words but a common screen). After a minute or so of watching the video, the playback started to play frame by frame. Late Sunday I had used Safari to load up a link that contained a flash video on IGN.com (as I keep flash shut off by default in Firefox due to constant discovery of security vulnerabilities).
My macbook pro (early 2011 model) is using 10.9.5. I am currently experiencing several bizarre issues that have created an unusable machine.
